We're cruising to the end of summer. August tends to be an up-and-down month for movies. Kids go back to school, sports heats up, and the movies wind down as they wrap up blockbuster season and prepare for the fall lull before holiday movie and award movie season. Here's a look at what to expect in August. Friday, August 5: Suicide Squad — This is probably the biggest, and best, summer movie left. There's a lot riding on this unconventional superhero team from D.C. Comics. I expect big things, and there's a lot of expectations here. Nine Lives — Kevin Spacey deserves better than this flaccid children's tale about a self-centered man taught a lesson about family when he's transported into the body of a cat. The audience deserves better, too. Friday, August 12: Pete's Dragon — This re-make of the Disney classic will benefit from better special effects and performances from Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford.
