2018 Broncos' Season, Week 6

Week 6: Los Angeles Rams 23, Broncos 20
Season Record: 2-4 (2-2 Home)
Key Play: In the fourth quarter, with the Broncos trailing 20-13 by trying to come back, the Rams ran a long drive milking the clock. Cairo Santos capped a 13-play, 72-yard drive with a 21-yard field goal to make it 23-13. It was enough to hold off the Broncos.

Recap: There was a moment near the end of the first half when the Broncos got the ball back down 13-3 with just seconds left. Chad Kelly, the backup QB trotted out onto the field to the cheers of the home crowd. It was for nothing more than a kneel down, and it was because Case Keenum was being evaluated for a concussion. But it was a microcosm of the Broncos' season. It was hope. And for a brief moment, the most popular guy in Denver got on the field. Now Keenum had some strong moments in the second half, helping the Broncos get close before losing. He completed a 40-plus yard pass to each of the Broncos' top three receivers. But it was also an uneven performance. And for the sixth straight game, Keenum tossed an INT. So it's a mixed bag. The same is true of the defense. They held the Rams' high-powered offense to just 23 points. They also recorded five sacks. But for the second straight week, the Broncos gave up 200 yards to a single rusher. So, again, a mixed bag. And now the team is 2-4, having lost four straight and is looking at a game in just a couple days in Arizona. It's not going to get much easier for Denver, and the dim playoff hopes they once had are slidding out of view.

Game Balls:
* Emmanuel Sanders.
He got his 500th career reception, nearly in spectacular fashion. He finished the game with seven receptions for 115 yards and a TD. He continues to be a bright spot.
* Bradley Chubb and Von Miller. The duo put plenty of pressure on Jared Goff. Chubb had three sacks, his best game as a pro, and Miller had 1.5, recording a sack for the first time since Week 2.

Lingering Concerns:
* What do the Broncos do well?
I can't really tell after six weeks. I thought it was running, but that was practically non-existent today.
* Coaching Uncertainty. Most feel Vance Joseph will be the first coach fired, but when? If it comes soon, that could spark the team, or make things worse.
* Case Keenum. It seems like time to consider Chad Kelly.
