2019 Broncos' Season, Week 6

Week 6: Broncos 16, Tennessee Titans 0
Season Record: 2-4 (1-2 Home)
Key Play: Trailing 13-0 and facing a fourth and four from the Broncos' 13-yard line, quarterback Ryan Tannehill rolled out and was sacked by DeMarcus Walker, turning the ball over on downs and ending the Titans' hopes for a comeback.

Recap: Two weeks ago, the Broncos' season looked blank. And now, there is hope again. But as Red has said time and again, "hope can be a dangerous thing." Let's hope that isn't the case for Broncos fans like myself, who think we might be able to beat the Chiefs on Thursday night and get to 3-4, moving closer to the playoff race. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. First let's take a moment to appreciate Sunday. I said last week a concern was the Broncos hadn't played four good quarters. I think we saw that yesterday, at least on defense. The Titans are no slouches on defense themselves, so that might excuse some of the lack of omph we saw on offense yesterday. And I still think Joe Flacco's interception was a result of poor technique from rookie Noah Fant as much as poor play from Joe, though he hasn't been incredible. The running game has been strong, and even without Emmanuel Sanders in the second half this team did enough to win. But the improvement on the offensive line, especially from Garrett Bolles, and the improvement on defense, with the changes Vic Fangio made after the Jacksonville game paying huge dividends, are enough to feel excited about the Broncos' potential here. And with a big divisional game coming up, there's even more to be excited about.

Game Balls:
* Courtland Sutton
. He continues to be a rock in the passing game, catching four passes for 76 yards.
* Phillip Lindsay. It wasn't a huge game, but 70 yards and a touchdown on the ground was enough to pace the Broncos. Royce Freeman played well, too, giving the Broncos' a solid 1-2 punch on the ground.
* Alexander Johnson and DeMarcus Walker. The two young Broncos are showing their stuff. Johnson continues to be stout in the middle, adding 1.5 sacks Sunday, while Walker is finally developing on the promise the Broncos always thought he had with two sacks Sunday.
* Kareem Jackson, Justin Simmons, Chris Harris. The Broncos figured to have a strong secondary, and these three are a big reason why. They have it now, and each of these three got a big interception on Sunday.

Lingering Concerns:
* Making a run.
The Broncos dug themselves a big hole, but could be 4-2 right now if things had broken differently. Still, it might not be too late, especially if they can get the win over the Chiefs Thursday. Can this Broncos team keep it going and complete the turnaround to be the competitive team we thought they'd be in August.
