Broncos' 2020 Season, Offensive Line
Now that the draft is over, and while we have some time to fill before teams come back, it's time to once again look at the positional units the Broncos have assembled for 2020. Today I'm continuing with the offensive line group.
Offensive Line:
On the Roster: Lloyd Cushenberry III, Nico Falah, Graham Glasgow, Patrick Morris, Netane Muti, Dalton Risner, Austin Schlottmann, Calvin Anderson, Quinn Bailey, Garrett Bolles, Ja'Waun James, Tyler Jones, Jake Rodgers, Hunter Watts, Elijah Wilkinson

About: This might be the most important position group on offense. Without decent line play, you can't do anything. Running backs are stymied, quarterbacks don't have time, and it won't matter who your wide receivers and tight ends are. For the second off-season in a row, the Broncos have spent considerable time trying to fix this group, or at least improve it. Mike Munchak was hired last year, and I thought he helped the Broncos' line step up in the second half last year. And that includes embattled left tackle Bolles, who seemed much better in the second half than he was early in 2019. He's in the last year of his contract, with his fifth year option not picked up, so this is really a year for him to make a statement, or to end his time in Denver. That will be something worth watching. But what's more exciting is the work done to solidify the middle of the line. Glasgow was a big free agent signing who figures to go to right guard. Last year's draft gem Risner is at left guard, and this year's draft pick of Cushenberry figures to anchor at center. That's an appealing prospect. James was a big signing last off-season who was injured early in the opening game and was never at 100 percent the rest of the season. The hope is that he will have better injury luck this year and look like the highest paid right tackle in the league, which he was when he signed. So that's likely the top of the heap, with Wilkinson vying for the left tackle slot. The question is who else makes the roster, and I think the Broncos are likely to keep at least eight, but more likely nine in this group. That still leaves some questions, and without camp and pre-season, most of the rest is just guesses. It will be interesting to see how it goes in the pre-season as the Broncos look for this group to take a step forward in 2020.
Early Roster Predictions: I think Bolles, James, Glasgow, Risner, Cushenberry, and Wilkinson are locks. If the Broncos keep eight, I would guess Rodgers and Schlottmann would be the final two. If they keep nine, it's too early to tell who would make the final spot.
