Favorite Broncos, No. 12
I miss football, and sports in general. I'm guessing you do, too. And in the place of actual games, we've been seeing a lot of countdowns of classic games, players, etc. And that got me thinking about my own favorite team, the Denver Broncos. I have loved the Denver Broncos since I was a little kid, more than 30 years of fandom. I started watching them in the late 1980s, and have been faithful ever since. So I thought it might be fun to take a little walk down memory lane and consider my favorite players from those teams. So this is just a personal list, that will be presented in reverse order starting at number 30. Agree, disagree, have your own stories? Share them in the comments.
No. 12 C.J. Anderson (2013-2017)
About: We're getting near the top, and I know some would question seeing Anderson here. But let me be clear, it was an incredible asset on the field during his five years with Denver and we would not have won Super Bowl 50 without him. Period. He's on this list, and up this high, because of those facts. I loved watching Anderson run. He was an undrafted free agent that looked good in the first pre-season I saw him. I was excited to watch him run, but he got hurt. The following season he got his shot, posting 820 yards and eight TDs. He followed that up with 749 yards and five TDs in 2015 as the Broncos made the Super Bowl. In the post-season, he had 72 yards in each of the Broncos' first two playoff games, helping get them to the Super Bowl. In that game against Carolina, a mostly defensive affair where the Broncos struggled offensively, Anderson rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown, catching four passes for 10 yards. That 100 yards was crucial to victory. He split time and was injured the following season, then turned in his first 1,000 yard season for the Broncos in 2017. Anderson was sadly released as the Broncos drafted Royce Freeman and signed Phillip Lindsay, but had some big splashes for the Rams as they made the Super Bowl. He's not in the NFL currently, and might not be as we move forward. But I will always appreciate his contributions to the Broncos, especially winning the Super Bowl.
