2020 Broncos' Season, Week 16
Week 16: Los Angeles Chargers 19, Denver Broncos 16
Season Record: 5-10 (2-5 Home)
Key Play: In the fourth quarter, tied at 16, Austin Ekeler rushed for 18 yards to the Broncos' 23-yard-line to set up the game-winning field goal from Michael Badgley.
Recap: The Broncos came up short again. This time it wasn't so much about Drew Lock as his shiny new weapon, Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy saw 15 targets in the game, but only came down with six of them. He dropped a touchdown and dropped a long pass with time expiring that would have given Denver a chance to kick a field goal to tie and force overtime. It was a bad game from the rookie who has had an unimpressive season. Hopefully he'll bounce back. But it's yet another loss, as the Broncos now slump to dead last in the AFC West, and yet another week of questions about the future. The defense is banged up, but played as well as they could. Lock wasn't great, but he did enough to put Denver in position to win. So it's back to questions about him and the surrounding cast as we try to figure out the future here. Denver has issues and needs players, but the organization doesn't seem ready to give up on Lock, and I'm not entirely sure I am either. All I know is it's another lost season and I hope the Broncos can do enough this off-season to climb back into relevance in the AFC.
Game Balls:
* DaeSean Hamilton. He had five receptions for 77 yards, and a couple big plays.
Lingering Concerns:
* Can the Broncos develop these young players into a competitive team?
