2021 Broncos' Season, Pre-Season, Week 1

Pre-Season Week 1: Denver Broncos 33, Minnesota Vikings 6
Pre-Season Record: 1-0 (0-0 Home)
Key Play: In the first quarter, with the Broncos leading 2-0, Drew Lock connected with K.J. Hamler on an 80-yard touchdown strike to make it 9-0. The Broncos never looked back.

Recap: Broncos' football is back! It's a great feeling, and I was excited to see the team out on the field tossing the ball around again. The biggest question coming in was the quarterback competition between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater. Lock got the start, and looked like a different, more confident player. He has a skill set that gives him an edge over Bridgewater, as long as he can be controlled and make good decisions. That was the case Saturday, and hopefully that trend will continue. Bridgewater was fine when he entered the game as well. If nothing else, he'd be a solid backup option. The Broncos looked good on both sides of the ball, but it also seemed like the Vikings withheld most of their good players and the reserves couldn't keep up. It's nice to get a win, but it's hard to take too much from a game like this.

Game Balls:
* Drew Lock
. He went 5-for-7 for 151 yards and two touchdowns. It was a big moment, and Lock played big.
* K.J. Hamler. The second-year receiver caught two passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. He looks like he can be a weapon when healthy.
* Trinity Benson. Benson is trying to secure a roster spot. His four catches for 36 yards and two TDs should certainly help.
* Pat Surtain II. The rookie corner looked good, including grabbing the game's lone interception, which he took 30 yards for a touchdown.

Lingering Concerns:
* After the next game, hopefully a QB decision can be made so the team can focus on the regular season.
* It was a good performance, but hopefully the Broncos will keep their heads down and prepare for the season.
