Week 9: Denver Broncos 30, Dallas Cowboys 16
Season Record: 5-4 (2-2 Home)
Key Play: In the fourth quarter, with 6:32 remaining, Brandon McManus hit a 42-yard field goal to make it 30-0 Broncos.

Recap: The Broncos notched a 14-point win in Dallas on Sunday. While that's surprising on its own, it's not even an accurate representation of the game. It wasn't that close. With just over six minutes remaining, the Broncos led 30-0. While the Cowboys posted a couple late touchdowns to make the score respectable, it had no bearing on the outcome of the game. Make no mistake, the Broncos dominated for all four quarters and got a win. What makes it surprising is that the Cowboys had won six straight and looked like one of the best teams in the NFL. The Broncos, meanwhile, have been up-and-down and dealt the team's best player, Von Miller, to the Rams at the trade deadline. I, like many others, thought that was a sign the Broncos were throwing in the towel despite protestations from the coach and general manager. Sunday's performance seems to indicate there's fight left in the Broncos, who join all the other teams in the AFC West at four wins, a half game back of the Chargers and Raiders. It's still a tough road ahead, but if the Broncos can play like this on offense and defense, there is hope yet that this will, indeed, be a playoff team. It's been a long wait, so that would be a welcome outcome for the season.

Game Balls:
* Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. The Broncos' backs dominated on the ground, with Gordon posting a line of 21-80-1 while Williams had 111 yards on 17 carries. If the Broncos can run like this, they'll be tough to beat.
* Tim Patrick. The veteran receiver continues to just make play after play. He caught four passes for 85 yards and a big touchdown.
* Jonathan Cooper. The rookie looked strong stepping in for Von Miller, recording a pair of sacks.
* Caden Sterns. The rookie safety had a big interception, part of what's been an impressive campaign.

Lingering Questions:
* Can the Broncos Keep it Up? All four teams in the AFC West have five wins, and the AFC has plenty of contenders. The Broncos need to keep piling up wins if they want to reach the playoffs.

  It’s Christmas week, and you might find yourself looking for some distractions in the form of new shows to check out. But which are worth checking out?   It was a solid week for new releases, including my favorite animated film of the year. You can keep up with everything I’m watching by following me on Letterboxd @knighthawk7734.  Brats (Hulu) Synopsis : From Andrew McCarthy, this new documentary takes a look at the infamous Brat Pack. The film features interviews with the members as they look back at the title that branded them and helped define some of their career. As a member of the group, McCarthy brings a unique perspective. Often the interviews, with actors such as Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Timothy Hutton, and Demi Moore, among others, feels more like old friends catching up. There’s a sweetness and a lightness to the documentary that is incredibly appealing. The film does a good job of capturing the highs and lows, and helping these actors and actresses give an account of what the pressure of that time—and these high-profile films—meant in their lives and their careers.
