2022 Broncos' Season, Week 1

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks 17, Denver Broncos 16
Season Record: 0-1 (0-0 Home)
Key Play: In the third quarter, with the Broncos trailing 17-13, on Third and Goal from the 1 yard line, running back Javonte Williams fumbled, recovered by the Seahawks.

Recap: The Broncos moved on from Vic Fangio, in large part, because of the lack of offense, the poor clock management and poor discipline. If Nathaniel Hackett is going to be a departure from that, he's going to have to be better than he was in game one. The Broncos looked stiff and sloppy, wasting opportunities and losing to what most believe is a lesser Seattle Seahawks team. Russell Wilson alone isn't the answer, it will take more for the Broncos. That was abundantly clear in the first game. The Broncos had 12 penalties, two turnovers in the Red Zone, sluggish pass plays and some more than curious game management. It turns out a team with a new coach, new quarterback and new offense probably could benefit from some pre-season reps. The Broncos looked off, and it cost them a win. That's not something that should sit well with team officials or fans, especially given the loaded AFC West. If the Broncos want to make it back to the playoffs after a multi-year absence, they need wins. They let one slip through their fingers Monday night, a deflating way to start the regular season.

Game Balls:
* Jerry Jeudy.
The third-year receiver has often looked sluggish, but he had the Broncos' best play of the night, taking an under-thrown Wilson pass for 67 yards and the team's lone touchdown. He had 102 yards total on four receptions, a great start.
* Bradley Chubb. It's a big year for Chubb, who hasn't been as dominant as expected. He started well, with the Broncos' only two sacks of the night.

Lingering Questions:
* Sloppy Play.
All these penalties aren't going to cut it. The Broncos need to play clean.
* Offensive Line. The line play wasn't great, and now Quinn Meinerz is out for a while. The Broncos will need to block it better to find success.
