2022 Broncos' Season, Week 14

 


Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs 34, Denver Broncos 28
Season Record: 3-10 (2-4 Home)
Key Play: In the fourth quarter, facing Third and 3 at the Chiefs' 47 and trailing by six, Brett Rypien dropped back. His arm got hit and the ball was intercepted. The Broncos never got the ball back.

Recap: At the end of the day, it's another loss. It's the Broncos' 10th loss this season. It's also another loss to the Chiefs, No. 14 in a row. The team has never beaten Patrick Mahomes. But, the Broncos didn't seem to have a chance in this game going in and yet, somehow, they made it a fight. Of course, that fight came after a first half in which the Broncos found themselves down 27-0. After that, Russell Wilson and the offense came to life. Jerry Jeudy had himself a strong day. Unfortunately, Wilson got knocked out and the comeback fell just short. Still, it was the kind of play and spark we haven't seen from the Broncos' offense this season. I was excited to see it and I hope it's a sign of things to come. The game also ultimately came down to penalties and turnovers, which has been the story of 2022. It's one I hope the Broncos can get figured out at some point.

Game Balls:
* Russell Wilson. Wilson looked strong at times, throwing for three touchdowns and running for 47 yards. This is the Russ the Broncos thought they were getting.
* Jerry Jeudy. I haven't always been a big Jeudy fan. I don't think he's always consistent, but he caught seven passes for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
* Pat Surtain II. Surtain had a huge interception that helped turn the tide of the game.
* Josey Jewel. Jewel made two big interceptions that helped turn the tide of the game.

Lingering Concerns:
* Coaching Change. Will the Broncos make a change? That's the question as the team continues to languish in a difficult and poor season.

  It’s Christmas week, and you might find yourself looking for some distractions in the form of new shows to check out. But which are worth checking out?   It was a solid week for new releases, including my favorite animated film of the year. You can keep up with everything I’m watching by following me on Letterboxd @knighthawk7734.  Brats (Hulu) Synopsis : From Andrew McCarthy, this new documentary takes a look at the infamous Brat Pack. The film features interviews with the members as they look back at the title that branded them and helped define some of their career. As a member of the group, McCarthy brings a unique perspective. Often the interviews, with actors such as Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Timothy Hutton, and Demi Moore, among others, feels more like old friends catching up. There’s a sweetness and a lightness to the documentary that is incredibly appealing. The film does a good job of capturing the highs and lows, and helping these actors and actresses give an account of what the pressure of that time—and these high-profile films—meant in their lives and their careers.
