2023 Broncos' Season, Roster Evaluations: Linebackers

The NFL Draft is in the books and the Broncos' roster sits at 90, the maximum for the off-season. Over the next couple months, I'll be looking at each position group on the roster and make predictions for the Training Camp cuts. Today I continue with the Linebackers.

Linebackers
On the Roster
: Nik Bonitto, Randy Gregory, Baron Browning, Jonathan Cooper, Drew Sanders, Alex Singleton, Josey Jewell, Christopher Allen, Justin Strnad, Aaron Patrick, Jonas Griffith, Ray Wilborn, Jonathan Kongbo, Seth Benson, and Thomas Incoom
About: Here we come to a crucial group. This is not only where the Broncos' pass rush gets its oomph, it's where the heart of the defense comes, too. Last year the Broncos found something great in Singleton, who is a beast in the middle. The team still has Jewell and added Sanders, a versatile player, in the Third Round of the NFL Draft. The question is the outside. Gregory was a high-profile free agent added last off-season but the Broncos didn't get a lot of bang for their buck in 2022. Bonitto was a rookie last year and he didn't make a big impression, either. The Broncos have Browning and Cooper as well, but there's still plenty of questions about the edge. The Broncos need better production and they need this core of young players to get it done.
Prediction: The Broncos will keep eight or nine players at the position. I think Gregory, Bonitto, Browning and Cooper are locks outside, with Singleton, Jewell and Sanders in the middle. The other two will be about depth and Special Teams. I think Griffith and Strnad get the edge.
