2023 Broncos' Season, Roster Evaluations: Cornerbacks
The NFL Draft is in the books and the Broncos' roster sits at 90, the maximum for the off-season. Over the next couple months, I'll be looking at each position group on the roster and make predictions for the Training Camp cuts. Today I continue with the Cornerbacks.
Cornerbacks
On the Roster: Patrick Surtain II, K'Waun Williams, Tremon Smith, Damarri Mathis, Riley Moss, Essang Bassey, Faion Hicks, Art Green, Tyler Lancaster, and Ja'Quan McMillan
About: The Broncos have one of the best corners in the game in Surtain. This unit begins with him. The question is who fills it out. Williams is a strong slot corner, while Smith is a veteran and a strong Special Teams player. Mathis showed strong as a rookie and Moss was a selection in this year's draft. Bassey has been an asset with the team as an undrafted free agent for years. So, the Broncos have some depth and options, and that doesn't even consider the younger players on the roster that could easily pop. It's all about finding the best possible group here.
Prediction: The Broncos will keep at least five but could easily keep six players here. Surtain, Williams, Smith, Mathis and Moss should make the roster. I think Bassey is the sixth man here.
