Games of the Week

The fifth week of the NFL Season brings another London game and our first round of bye weeks. There are four teams off this week, which means we get only 14 games total, and only 12 on Sunday. Below are the five I’m most bullish on this week!

London Game:

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) at Buffalo Bills (3-1)
About:
The Jaguars got back on track with a big win over Atlanta in London last Sunday. This is their second straight game across the pond, a place they’ve played well. That might help them feel acclimated. The Bills, meanwhile, lost the first game of the season but have been battering opponents ever since. That includes putting up 48 points against the Dolphins in Week 4. This could have plenty of fireworks.

Early Window:

Baltimore Ravens (3-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2)
About:
This is a rivalry that always has juice, even if one or both teams are struggling. This comes at a crucial time for the Ravens, who at 3-1 are atop the AFC North. They’ve also beaten the Bengals and Browns, giving them a leg up in the division. A win against the Steelers here would give them a 3-0 record in the North and a commanding lead in the division. The Steelers, meanwhile, are looking for a big win to gain confidence heading into a Week 6 bye. They might also be doing it without Kenny Pickett, who is beat up. There’s plenty to like in this one.

Late Window:

Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) at Los Angeles Rams (2-2)
About:
The Eagles are one of only two unbeaten teams, but they’ve had some struggles. The Rams, meanwhile, are a frisky 2-2. Their losses have come against the 49ers and the Bengals, as they’ve played a tough opening schedule. Cooper Kupp should be back for this one and the Rams will need to score to keep up with a good Eagles’ squad. This should be a lot of fun.

New York Jets (1-3) at Denver Broncos (1-3)
About:
Are things really so desperate that a pair of 1-3 teams made the list? No, that’s not entirely it. Both teams have had terrible starts and terrible injury luck. But both have shown signs of life in recent weeks. Plus, there’s plenty of bad blood here after an off-season where new Broncos’ coach Sean Payton made some unflattering comments about former Broncos’ coach and current Jets’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. This should be an engaging battle.

Sunday Night:

Dallas Cowboys (3-1) at San Francisco 49ers (4-0)
About:
The other unbeaten, the 49ers, face a stiff battle in the Cowboys. The 49ers have ended the Cowboys’ run the past two years in the post-season and both are among the best in the league right now, with a stout defense and an explosive offense. This is the game of the week and a heck of a way to cap Sunday!
