Films of the 1970s, No. 6
Throughout 2023 I'm looking at my favorite films from the decade of the 1970s. I'll be counting down from 50 to 1 throughout the year, posting a new installment each Friday. Agree? Disagree? Want to share a story? Post it in the comments below!
Walsh: Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.
Chinatown (1974)
Starring: Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston
Director: Roman Polanski
About: Another great 1970s film that has some iconic moments. This film features a great lead performance from Nicholson and a memorable story, based on the Oscar-nominated script from Robert Towne. It won Best Picture and easily could have won more. It's also the second straight week with a film from Dunaway, who had a strong decade herself. This is a great noir mystery that has a story that holds you tight and takes you in unexpected directions. It's a compelling and memorable drama and one of my favorite films of the decade.
