2024 Broncos' Season, Defensive Line
Now that the 2024 NFL Draft is in the books, it's time to analyze the Broncos' roster. I'll be looking at each position group over the next few weeks as we lead into Training Camp in July. Today, I continue with a look at the defensive line.
On the Roster: Zach Allen, D.J. Jones, John Franklin-Myers, Malcolm Roach, Rashard Lawrence, Matt Henningsen, Elijah Garcia, Jordan Jackson, Eiyoma Uwazurike, and Angelo Blackson
About: This is shaping up to be a good, strong, and deeper group for the Broncos. The team added Roach as a free agent and brought in Franklin-Myers via trade. That goes along with recent additions of Jones and Allen as free agents in the past few seasons. That's the beginnings of some improvement in a group that's been something of a weak link on a good defense for a couple seasons.
The question is how many and who makes the final roster. Uwazurike was an interesting prospect, but he was suspended for the whole 2023 season. That doesn't bode well for his chances in 2024. The team has some young guys like Henningsen and Garcia that played well last year to make the squad. I'd give them a leg up right now along with the four mentioned up top. This team kept six defensive lineman last year and I think that's about where they'll be in 2024 as well.
Overall, this is a group the Broncos wanted to improve. They want to have a stronger front group to help reign in the run and allow outside rushers to create pressure. I think with the additions they've done that and I'm excited to see how the group performers during the 2024 season.
