2024 Broncos' Season, Week 1
Week 1: Seattle Seahawks 26, Denver Broncos 20
Season Record: 0-1 (0-0 Home)
Key Play: To start the Fourth Quarter, Geno Smith connected with Zach Charbonnet on a 30-yard touchdown strike to put the Seahawks up by 13 points.
Recap: The Broncos looked great in an undefeated pre-season. Still, I urged caution. This roster is a work in progress and the Broncos really didn't play against anyone in the pre-season. It looked like that in Week 1, as Bo Nix showed himself a rookie QB. He was high and behind on many passes, missing wide open receivers. That combined with a lack of run game and passes at or behind the line-of-scrimmage, and the Broncos' offense was still not much fun to watch. People quickly wanted to blame Russell Wilson last year, but this offense looks the same with a new quarterback. There is work to be done. The defense was still solid, forcing turnovers and getting two safeties in the first half. But the offense needs work. This is a young team and this is going to be a long season.
Game Balls:
* Jonathon Cooper. Cooper recorded two sacks to lead the Broncos' pass rush.
* Alex Singleton. The middle linebacker had an early interception that helped set the tone.
