Upcoming Releases: November, 2024
As we hit November, we're full on into award season, while also featuring some big blockbusters. Let's dive in!
Friday, November 1:
Here (Theaters): This is a high concept idea from Robert Zemeckis. It features Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, and features a story told in a single location from a static camera over time. It looks interesting.
A Real Pain (Theaters): The Sundance darling is now appearing for audiences in theaters. It comes from Jesse Eisenberg and features a great performance from Kieran Culkin. This is an awards contender.
Juror No. 2 (Theaters): This is the latest from director Clint Eastwood. It's a courtroom thriller featuring Zoey Deutch and Nicholas Hoult. This hasn't been marketed much, so I remain curious.
Wednesday, November 6:
Meet Me Next Christmas (Netflix): The latest from Netflix is a holiday season starring Christina Millian. For those looking for a fun holiday tale, this will hit the spot.
Friday, November 8:
Heretic (Theaters): This is from A24 and features Hugh Grant as a mysterious man who traps a couple Mormon missionaries for a test. This looks sufficiently creepy and could be a great turn for Grant. I'm all in.
Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Theaters): This is a holiday feature that comes from Kingdom Story Company. It's a Christian film with a religious message that features Judy Greer as the director of a church pageant gone off the rails. Expect this to get you in the feels.
Small Things Like These (Theaters): A film set in 1985, featuring Cillian Murphy as a father who stumbles on a secret at a nearby convent. This one is also set during Christmas time and should be interesting.
Elevation (Theaters): This is a post-apocalyptic adventure set in the Rocky Mountains. Anthony Mackie leads the cast in a story that could be engaging.
Wednesday, November 13:
Emilia Perez (Netflix): Zoe Saldana leads the way in this film about a lawyer who gets involved with the cartel. It's a big swing for Netflix, and could be an interesting and engaging streaming watch.
Friday, November 15:
The Red One (Theaters): What if Santa got kidnapped? That's the pressure in this film, which features Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson as a couple of warriors tasked with recovering Santa and saving Christmas. This will be fun.
An Almost Christmas Story (Disney+): This is a new animated feature timed for the holiday. This will be fun for those looking for more Christmas content!
Wednesday, November 20:
The Merry Gentlemen (Netflix): The second of the Netflix Christmas releases in November. This one features Chad Michael Murray and appears to be aimed at the ladies. Merry Christmas!
Friday, November 22:
Wicked (Theaters): A big screen adaptation of the famous musical. This one features Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. It looks great and should be one of the biggest blockbusters of the season.
Gladiator II (Theaters): This is the other major blockbuster of November, a sequel to the Ridley Scott film from 2000. This one features Paul Mescal and looks like a lot of good action. I'm hyped!
Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Spy, Assassin (Theaters): This is a biopic on the famous theologian. It's a faith-based film that offers a bit of a different kind of insight on the man.
Blitz (Apple TV+): After a short theatrical run, this film comes to Apple TV+. It features Saoirse Ronan and is directed by Steve McQueen. It looks like a great period piece and drama.
Out of My Mind (Disney+): This is a new drama based on the story of a woman who struggles through cerebral palsy but doesn't let it define her. This figures to be an emotional and uplifting series.
Joy (Netflix): This film tells the story of the first test tube baby. It's about a breakthrough in science and an emotional tale, featuring Bill Nighy and Thomasin Mckenzie, among others. It looks engaging.
The Piano Lesson (Netflix): Another engaging film for Netflix, and another potential award contender. This one features John David Washington telling a story about a family clash that begins with a fight over a piano.
Wednesday, November 27:
Moana 2 (Theaters): A sequel to the popular Disney animated film. This one comes out in time for a long Thanksgiving weekend, but it should be a fun one for families.
Our Little Secret (Netflix): Another of the original Christmas features from Netflix. This one is led by Lindsay Lohan. It should be a fun bit of holiday viewing for the long weekend.
