Favorite Westerns, No. 2

Do you like a good Western? It's a classic genre in film and this year I've decided to look at some of my favorite Westerns. So, join me each Friday as I count down my favorite Westerns from No. 50 to No. 1.

The Operative: I'm sorry. If your quarry goes to ground, leave no ground to go to. You should have taken my offer. Or did you think none of this was your fault?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I don't murder children.
The Operative: I do. If I have to.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Why? Do you even know why they sent you?
The Operative: It's not my place to ask. I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: So me and mine gotta lay down and die... so you can live in your better world?
The Operative: I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... any more than there is for you. Malcolm... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done.

Serenity (2005)
Starring
: Nathan Fillion, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Jewel Staite
Director: Joss Whedon
About: As we wrap up this journey, we've had a number of unique choices, particularly at the top. That will be true of my top two, beginning with this film. Is it an unconventional choice? Perhaps. Does it fit? Absolutely. This is a space western. It's also a sequel film to a TV series. But it's got its own, original story and some great performances. I particularly love the back-and-forth between Fillion and Ejiofor in this film. I like the story, the humor, and the way it's all put together. I saw the film before I ever saw the series, and it remains a personal favorite. That's why it's near the top of this list.
