Upcoming Releases, February 2025

With February, we get some of our first blockbusters of the year in addition to a variety of offerings that provide something for all audiences. Let's dive in.

Wednesday, February 5:
Kinda Pregnant (Netflix):
This new comedy features Amy Schumer as a woman in the midst of faking a pregnancy when she meets the potential man of her dreams. Here's the start of Valentine's rom-com season!

Friday, February 7:
Heart Eyes (Theaters):
This is a horror movie about a terrifying and brutal killer to attacks couples on Valentine's Day. He also had a mask that has glowing red hearts as eyes. It looks unsettling but it's one kind of date movie.

Love Hurts (Theaters): Ke Huy Quan stars as a former hit man who has started a new, quiet life. When his old life catches up with him, he's forced back into action. This one features Marshawn Lynch and Ariana DeBose. This looks like a lot of fun.

Armand (Theaters, Limited): This foreign language feature is about parents brought into a school to discuss a sensitive incident with their children. What follows is troubling and intense at times. Renate Reinsve is quite good here.

Thursday, February 13:
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (Peacock)
: This is a follow up to the familiar franchise. This one finds Bridget (Renee Zellweger) widowed and raising a nine-year-old son. No Colin Firth here, as his Mark is the one who died, but Hugh Grant is back and the film adds Leo Woodall, among others. This should be a good Valentine's Day streamer.

Friday, February 14:
Captain America: Brave New World (Theaters):
After a quiet 2024, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is back in full force in 2025. That begins with this new Captain America tale that finds Sam (Anthony Mackie) donning the mantle and battling the Red Hulk (Harrison Ford), among others. I'm pumped. This is the first real blockbuster of 2025.

Paddington in Peru (Theaters): This is the third theatrical outing for Paddington. The first two were a complete delight and this should be more of the same. This is a great option for families.

Friday, February 21:
The Monkey (Theaters):
Following up on his great work with Longlegs in 2024, Osgood Perkins is back with a horror film based on a Stephen King story. The trailer is great and moody, and the film looks like it will be fun for horror fans.

The Unbreakable Boy (Theaters): Zachary Levi stars in this Kingdom Story Company release as a father to a autistic son with a rare disease who remains unafraid to get out there and try new things. This looks like some family-friendly entertainment that will tug at the heart-strings.

Friday, February 28:
Last Breath (Theaters): Based on the 2019 documentary, this film focuses on a daring deep sea rescue operation. Woody Harrelson leads the cast and this looks like an engaging, tense adventure. I'm all in.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (Theaters): The Looney Tunes are back on the big screen with a new, screwball adventure. If you're a fan of this kind of entertainment, this will be a welcome addition and should be some classic, family-friendly entertainment.

The Legend of Ochi (Theaters): This is another family-friendly offering dealing with a young girl and some magical creatures. It has a good voice cast, including Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson. This could be worth checking out.

The Gorge (Apple TV+): This is about two young people falling in love on a dangerous assignment. The cast features Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy in a film directed by Scott Derrickson. Color me intrigued.
