2010 Rewind: Easy A

It's hard to believe, but 2010 was 15 years ago. Over the next few weeks I'm going to be looking at some stand out films from 2010 that are turning 15 in 2025. Today, it's a comedy featuring Emma Stone.

Olive Penderghast: Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life.

Easy A
Starring
: Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, and Thomas Haden Church
Director: Will Gluck
About: High school is tough and, for many, awkward. Stone is a wildly successful actress who has become a fixture at awards the past few years. But 15 years ago, she was the star of this teen comedy about a girl who tells a lie to boost her status and has it end up biting her in the backside. We've all been there, right? Stone is great in this role and she is great in this film. She really elevates the film and that's probably one of the reasons it has stuck with me for a decade and a half. Is this the best film from 2010? Probably not. But when I was looking at the list, this was one that stood out.
