Free Agency Preview

The new league year begins on Wednesday, March 12. The legal tampering period begins today! We should be in for quite the week of Free Agent wheeling and dealing. Below are a few of the key free agents I'm watching as this season beings.

Sam Darnold, QB, Minnesota Vikings
About
: Darnold is the biggest domino in the free agent QB market. He was a bridge option for the Vikings last year that put up career numbers in leading the team to a 14-win season. His regular season finale and playoff game weren't great, but Darnold should be in line for a decent deal. I expect him to be one of the first to go today.

Justin Fields, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
About:
Fields is still young and I think he still has upside. So do other teams. The Steelers supposedly want him back, but he'll test the market. I'm interested to see where he lands and if he can pull himself back up like Baker Mayfield.

Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
About:
The Steelers are another team that have questions at quarterback and running back. Can they bring Harris back? Will they? He had 1,000-plus yards in each of his four seasons and is a workhorse back. He'll ply those skills for someone.

Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
About:
Williams had a great rookie year. We didn't see him get back to that in the three years that followed. Still, I think in the right situation that he could be a great backfield contributor. Feels like he's unlikely to return to Denver, but I'll be watching to see where he lands.

Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
About:
Godwin is arguably the top receiver in free agency right now. He had 62 targets and 50 receptions in seven games last season before being injured. He's still capable of 85-100 targets a year. I like his chances to be a good contributor to an offense in need of passing game help.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Houston Texans
About:
Diggs is another receiver who had a promising season cut short due to injury. Could he return to the Texans? It's certainly possible. Either way, I think he has two-to-three more years of being a decent contributor to an offense and a fantasy team.

Keenan Allen, WR, Chicago Bears
About:
Allen is an aging veteran but, like Diggs, he can still contribute. At times, he looked like the most reliable Bears receiver in 2024. I don't think he's back there, but I could see him helping push an offense over-the-top in 2025.

Amari Cooper, WR, Buffalo Bills
About:
Cooper might be the biggest enigma in the free agent cycle. He was a great and reliable contributor throughout his career before 2024. He was traded to the Bills and disappeared. Will he find a place to contribute in 2025? I'll be watching carefully.
