Upcoming Releases, April 2025

We've made it to April, and we're getting a mix of some interesting releases this month. Let's take a look at all that's in store for us in April!

Friday, April 4:
* A Minecraft Movie (Theaters)
: This film has a decent cast but looks like it might be better for younger audiences than adults. Video game adaptations have been a mixed bag, but I'm hoping for some fun.

* Freaky Tales (Theaters): This one is an anthology of sorts, with four inter-connected tales set in 1987. They are of some varying quality, but Tom Hanks is great in a cameo and I enjoyed Pedro Pascal and some of the sequences here.

* The Friend (Theaters): This has been a bit under-the-radar. Still, a film starring Bill Murray and Naomi Watts has to pique your interest a bit. Will it be good? Who's to say.

Thursday, April 10:
* G20 (Prime Video):
This action film focuses on a terrorist take over of the G20 Summit. Viola Davis is the lead, playing a badass American President. I'm intrigued about this one.

Friday, April 11:
* Drop (Theaters):
This comes from director Christopher Landon and has an interesting premise. I like the cast and the potential here.

* The Amateur (Theaters): This one finds Rami Malek as a CIA analyst who goes into the field after his wife is killed. Turns out, he has a knack for it. I like the set up here and the potential to be a sleeper hit in April.

* Warfare (Theaters): This A24 release sets things at battlefront as a group of Navy Seals is pinned down. It comes from Alex Garland and looks like it could be quite engaging.

* King of Kings (Theaters): This is an animated tale about the life and times of Jesus as told to his son by Charles Dickens. It's an interesting and seasonal offering that looks like a bit of fun.

* Pets (Disney+): Bryce Dallas Howard directs this documentary devoted to pets and the people that love them. This looks like a fun time for pet owners and enthusiasts.

Friday, April 18:
* Sinners (Theaters):
This features Michael B. Jordan in a dual role and comes from director Ryan Coogler. Oh, it's also a Depression era Vampire story. I'm all in.

* Sneaks (Theaters): This is an animated tale, released in time for a family outing on Easter weekend. It centers on a shoe designer who has to travel to New York to save his sister. It has some potential.

* The Ritual (Theaters): What is more Easter weekend than a film about exorcisms? Well, that's what we get here with this film that features Al Pacino, Patricia Heaton, and Ashley Greene, among others. I'm not optimistic.

Friday, April 25:
* The Accountant 2 (Theaters)
: This is a sequel to the original, released way back in 2016. It returns Ben Affleck and director Gavin O'Connor. I liked the first one, so I'm intrigued.

* Until Dawn (Theaters): This is a horror film following a group of young people trapped in a cabin and hunted by something nefarious. This is a low-budget horror film and not likely to be too engaging.

* The Legend of Ochi (Theaters): This comes from A24, too, and looks like some more family-friendly fare. There is some potential here and this could be intriguing as a kids and family film.

* Havoc (Netflix): Here we have an action film starring Tom Hardy that is dropping on Netflix. This feels like an interesting addition to the end of the month.
