Upcoming Releases, March 2025

As we turn the corner into March, we're leaving the 2024 Award Season behind. That means a combination of new releases, including some anticipated tent poles to help launch the Spring. Let's dive in.

Thursday, March 6:
Picture This (Prime Video):
This is a smaller romance film, but it stars Simone Ashley and Hero Fiennes Tiffin. It will appeal to those looking for a light streaming film.

Friday, March 7:
Mickey 17 (Theaters):
This film has been oft delayed, but it's the anticipated follow up from Bong Joon Ho, starring Robert Pattinson. I'm curious to see it but not sure what to expect.

Rule Breakers (Theaters): This is a smaller film about your women seeking to rise above obstacles to realize their potential. This looks like a feel-good theater option.

Night of the Zoopocalypse (Theaters): We haven't had much in the way of animated films this year, so far. But this one presents a big screen outing for the family set!

Thursday, March 13:
Parenting (Max):
This is a meet-the-parents type comedy that turns into a ghost comedy. It features Brian Cox and Lisa Kudrow. This is a gem of a streaming option!

Friday, March 14:
Black Bag (Theaters):
The latest from Steven Soderberg is a spy thriller starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. The trailer is cool and I think this looks like potentially one of the best films of the month.

Novocaine (Theaters): Jack Quaid takes the lead as a man who can't feel pain. This looks like it will have fun action and maybe some comedy. I'm intrigued.

Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up (Theaters): The latest from the world of Looney Tunes, this was finished and part of the 2024 award season. It's been delayed a few times but now drops to hopefully draw in a new generation of fans.

The Electric State (Netflix): This is a futuristic tale starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. It's got some potential but it is still somewhat mysterious. Still, I'm intrigued.

Thursday, March 20:
Duplicity (Prime Video):
This is the latest thriller from Tyler Perry. His recent movies have been a mixed bag, but it's nice to get some more consistent streaming options.

O'Dessa (Hulu): A future set movie that finds Sadie Sink on a quest to recover a cherished family heirloom. This looks like it could be a fun streaming film.

Friday, March 21:
Snow White (Theaters):
Here we get the biggest event of March, the live-action re-make of a Disney classic. I'm intrigued by the idea, but the trailer is a mixed bag. I'm skeptical.

Magazine Dreams (Theaters): This film was at Sundance in 2023 and had a long journey to mass audiences thanks to the controversy surrounding Jonathan Majors. It's a good performance but a bit of a grim film.

The Alto Knights (Theaters): This film from Barry Levinson features Robert De Niro in a dual role. It's a crime tale that had a good trailer. I'm intrigued.

Thursday, March 27:
Holland (Prime Video):
Wrapping up a big month for Prime Video, we get a new thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Gael Garcia Bernal. This looks interesting.

Friday, March 28:
The Woman in the Yard (Theaters):
The latest from Jaume Collet-Serra features Danielle Deadwyler. This looks sufficiently creepy, adding to the good start for 2025 horror films.

Working Man (Theaters): This is another action film starring Jason Statham. This has a decent set up and should be good for those who are looking for a little bit of action.

The Life List (Netflix): This is a new film about a woman who is prompted to really live after her mother passes away. It's an interesting concept and should make for a fun streaming option.
