Upcoming Releases, June 2025
We've made it to June, which is getting to the heart of the summer. There are a number of high-profile releases coming in June. Let's dive in and see what's coming!
Friday, June 6:
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (Theaters): This is a spin-off of John Wick. It features Ana de Armas as a new contract killer, but it's clear there will be plenty of Keanu Reeves' John Wick, too. This is made for the action fans.
The Phoenician Scheme (Theaters): This is the latest from Wes Anderson. The film has received mixed reviews from early screenings, but it looks to have his signature look and style. I'm intrigued.
Dangerous Animals (Theaters): This is what summer movies are about, a low-budget shark film. I don't know a lot about it, but I don't need to know much. If you like sharks, you should be in.
Predator: Killer of Killers (Hulu): This is a three-part anthology set in the world of Predator. It's also an animated film. I have mixed feelings.
Straw (Netflix): This drama stars Taraji P. Henson. It's about a single mother who runs into some trouble. This looks like an interesting drama.
Thursday, June 12:
Deep Cover (Prime Video): This is an action comedy about improv actors hired to infiltrate the London mob. The film features Paddy Constantine, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Orlando Bloom, among others. I'm intrigued.
Friday, June 13:
How to Train Your Dragon (Theaters): This is the live-action re-make of the Dreamworks Animation film. It looks like a faithful production and could be one of the biggest family films of the summer.
The Life of Chuck (Theaters): This film comes from Mike Flanagan based on a sentimental Stephen King story. The trailer looks inspirational so count me among those who are excited to see it.
Materialists (Theaters): This is the latest from Celine Song. The films features Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal in a love triangle. It looks like a lot of fun.
Echo Valley (Apple TV+): This new film finds Julianne Moore as a mother trying to make peace with her troubled daughter, played by Sydney Sweeney. It devolves into a dramatic action film. This looks interesting.
Absolution (Hulu): We're squarely in the action film phase for Liam Neeson. This is a straight to streaming garbage action film. If you're a fan of the genre, you won't want to miss it.
Friday, June 20:
28 Years Later (Theaters): This is the third film in the franchise, bringing back director Danny Boyle. The trailer is great, and this could be a fun addition to the summer lineup.
Elio (Theaters): This is the latest from Pixar. It looks like a charming and engaging tale. It will compete with Dragon for the family crowd this summer.
Everything's Going to Be Great (Theaters): Bryan Cranston and Allison Janey pal around in this independent comedy. This is a bit of summer counter-programming.
Friday, June 27:
F1 (Theaters): This is a big-screen racing film. It stars Brad Pitt and comes from the team behind Top Gun: Maverick. This could be a thrill ride for the big screen.
M3GAN 2.0 (Theaters): This is the follow up to last year's surprise horror hit. It finds our titular robot possibly on a redemption arc. I didn't love the first film, but this trailer had me laughing.
