1995 Rewind: Batman Forever
It's hard to believe, but 1995 was 30 years ago. Over the next few weeks I'm going to be looking at some stand out films from 1995 that are turning 30 in 2025. Today, it's a turning point for Batman.
Batman: Poor Edward. I had to save them both. You see, I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman, not because I have to be, now, because I choose to be.
Batman Forever
Starring: Val Kilmer, Nicole Kidman, Chris O'Donnell, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jim Carrey
Director: Joel Schumacher
About: I love Batman as a character. He's my favorite superhero. By the time this was released, I was in my Batman phase. This was the first of the Batman movies I saw in the theater, and 14-year-old me still liked it. But, objectively, Kilmer was wrong for the part. He's the worst Batman and this is the worst Batman film. I know that's controversial and many won't agree, but there it is. Still, it's iconic for its cast and the over-the-top nature of the villains in this film. Plus, the soundtrack is a banger. So, on its 30th anniversary, it deserves a shout out.
