The Director's Series: Quentin Tarantino, No. 2

Throughout 2025 I'm turning my focus to Directors. They help craft the vision on screen that makes a movie work. This year I'm looking at five favorite films from 18 directors I admire and 10 films directed by different women that I have enjoyed. Join me Fridays and Saturdays throughout 2025 as we take this journey.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)
Starring:
Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Steve Buscemi
Director: Quentin Tarantino
About: This was Tarantino's first feature film, and it still holds up. It's the expansion of a short film you can find on YouTube. I enjoyed the short film, but it's the way this expanded that has always worked for me. It's mostly about the dialogue and the tense situations. The action of this film is often not seen. We see pieces in flashback as the truth of the story unfolds. And when you get to the ending, it's hard not to be all in. I also really enjoy the musical choices.
