Upcoming Releases, October 2025

We've made it to October, which is a packed month full of big releases. We're deep into awards season now, so buckle up!

Friday, October 3:
The Smashing Machine (Theaters):
This comes from Bennie Safdie and features Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. This could be a good contender to kick off the month.

The Lost Bus (Apple TV+): This film features Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrara. It got a limited theatrical release and generated some positive buzz. It's worth checking out.

Steve (Netflix): This one features Cillian Murphy reunited with the director of his last feature. It's about a man on a mission, while also battling his personal demons. I'm intrigued.

Friday, October 10:
Roofman (Theaters):
This one features Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst in a based-on-a-true-story romp. I love the cast and I love the trailers. This could be good.

Tron: Ares (Theaters): The third Tron film, this one coming from a different director and featuring a cast led by Jared Leto. I don't love these films, so I'm on the fence with this.

Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Theaters): Bill Condon directs a musical re-make of this film from the 1980s. It has a decent cast but I'm skeptical.

John Candy: I Like Me (Prime Video): This is the documentary that premiered at TIFF. I'm excited to dive deeper on Candy's life and career.

Vicious (Paramount+): This is a new horror film featuring Dakota Fanning. It's the season for this kind of entertainment.

The Woman in Cabin 10 (Netflix): This is another horror film, this one featuring Keira Knightly. Again, it is the season for this kind of release.

Friday, October 17:
After the Hunt (Theaters):
This is the latest from director Luca Guadagnino, featuring a stacked cast led by Julia Roberts. It dives into some contemporary issues and could be an awards player.

Good Fortune (Theaters): This one comes from Aziz Ansari, and features him, Keanu Reeves as an angel, and Seth Rogen. It is a hilarious type of trading places comedy that looks fun.

Black Phone 2 (Theaters): Ethan Hawke is back as the killer in this sequel. It looks spooky. I wasn't a big fan of the original, but 'tis the season.

Friday, October 24:
Regretting You (Theaters):
This is the latest adaptation of author Colleen Hoover. It is another romance film, this one with a cast including Alison Williams and Dave Franco. A good date night option.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (Theaters): Jeremy Allen White plays The Boss in this new biopic. It got middling early reviews, but it should be a hit for docudrama fans.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (Theaters): The latest from Rose Byrne is the story of a mother who is struggling. It has drawn raves for her performance and could be an awards player.

A House of Dynamite (Netflix): It's a big Fall for Netflix, but this drama about The White House in crisis seems to be its strongest contender. I'm pumped to see it.

Wednesday, October 29:
Ballad of a Small Player (Netflix):
This is a gambling drama starring Colin Farrell. I'm all in to see this one!

Friday, October 31:
Bugonia (Theaters):
The latest from Yorgos Lanthimos features Jesse Plemmons and Emma Stone. It has a quirky trailer and could be a bit of fun.
