1990 Rewind: The Godfather Part III

It's hard to believe, but 1990 was 35 years ago. Over the next few weeks I'm going to be looking at some stand out films from 1990 that are turning 35 in 2025. Today, it's the conclusion to the Corleone saga.

Michael Corleone: Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

The Godfather Part III
Starring:
Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, and Andy Garcia
Director: Francis Ford Coppola
About: All sagas end. Not all of them end well. I love the first two Godfather films. They are masterful and incredible. There is a long gap (16 years) between the second part and this final film. While it makes some sense for the arc of Michael Corleone, this isn't a good film. Part of it is the performance of Sofia Coppola as his daughter, and part of it is just the arc of that story. This got a Best Picture nomination, but it's quite a come down from the other chapters. And yet, it feels like a necessary watch if you love the other films. So, it lands on this list!
