The Director's Series, David Fincher, No. 1
Throughout 2025 I'm turning my focus to Directors. They help craft the vision on screen that makes a movie work. This year I'm looking at five favorite films from 18 directors I admire and 10 films directed by different women that I have enjoyed. Join me Fridays and Saturdays throughout 2025 as we take this journey.
The Social Network (2010)
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake
Director: David Fincher
About: Fincher is another director who has done a lot of dark, meaningful films. This one is my favorite of his, and probably his best. It's not like some of the other crime dramas he's done. It's a docudrama, working on a script from Aaron Sorkin. But it's completely engaging and a lot of fun. The performances are great, but so is the production and the shots. All put together with an engaging story and a good score, this was a great film. It should have won Best Picture, and it's certainly remembered as the classic that it is. If you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out.
