NBA's Second Season Begins

And so it begins, likely the final playoff run for the Lakers as they are currently constructed. Sure, most of the roster will probably be back next year — if there is a next year — but without Phil Jackson, will it be the same? Somehow I doubt it. Plus, if the Lakers make the Finals again this year, it will be the fourth straight year in the NBA Finals. It's hard to believe that, with the age of the core group, they will have the endurance to get back again. That's a lot of games.

With the playoffs kicking off tomorrow, I thought I would offer some playoff predictions.

Eastern Conference:

First Round: Bulls over Pacers; Magic over Hawks; Celtics over Knicks; and Heat over 76ers.

Second Round: Bulls over Magic; Heat over Celtics.

Eastern Conference Finals: Bulls over Heat 4-3

Western Conference:

First Round: Spurs over Grizzlies; Thunder over Nuggets; Blazers over Mavericks; Lakers over Hornets.

Second Round: Thunder over Spurs; Lakers over Blazers.

Western Conference Finals: Lakers over Thunder 4-3

NBA Finals: Lakers over Bulls 4-2

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
