Choose Joy!

"You have to laugh because it's too early to start crying." — John Madden

I remember I was watching a Monday Night Football and the game was a blow out. The cameras panned to the sideline of the team that was being blown out, and the players on the sidelines were chuckling. Al Michaels said he didn't know what they had to laugh about, which is when John Madden responded with the comment above. It's always stuck with me.

What was true of those players on that sideline is true of all of us during our lives. There are times when we feel frustrated and broken, but sometimes you just have to laugh. That's where our inner sense of Joy comes in. That's what Katy touched on so beautifully this morning.

Our joy comes from the Lord. Whether in tough times or good times, we can be full of joy when our joy comes from Him. And the Lord is with us during all times, giving us strength. Paul, who was a dedicated servant of Christ, suffered greatly during his ministry. He was imprisoned, beaten, ship wrecked, and imprisoned again. Yet he never lost his faith or his joy, because he knew that in good times and bad, his joy came from the Lord. He also knew the Lord was his strength.

Philippians 4:13, which was penned by Paul, says, "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." That is God's promise to us, which is why we can be joyful in all circumstances.

Especially when Tim Tebow is playing... Go Broncos!
