March Madness


Two full days of the NCAA Tournament have passed. How's your bracket? Of course there have been plenty of upsets, but they haven't been the ones many people expected.

If you picked the Duke Bluedevils deep into the tournament, sorry. They fell in a 2-15 matchup to Lehigh. Then there's Missouri, who many people (myself included) got suckered into thinking were a Final Four team. They, of course, went down in another 2-15 matchup to Norfolk State. NORFOK STATE!

Others that were supposed to be frauds, like Georgetown falling to Belmont, never materialized. While the scrappy bunch from Virginia Commonwealth University again advanced in the tournament despite being marginalized as a 12 seed.

That's the madness of March. That's what makes this tournament so fun. And that's what makes the end of the men's college basketball season more satisfying than the end of the college football season.

So with the fourth and fifth round games today and tomorrow, the field will narrow to 16. Then next weekend we'll get all the way down to the final four. As I said, I had Missouri in the group on my bracket... not likely now. But that doesn't mean we can't have revised predictions! So, here it goes:

South — Kentucky
East — Florida State
Midwest — North Carolina
West — Murray State (just for fun)

Title Game: Kentucky vs. North Carolina

Champion: Kentucky

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
