A New Season (Saturday)

One of the highlights of the last two seasons on Game Day was going to Facebook to see what verse that Tim Tebow put up for the day. The NFL, you see, won't allow verses in eyeblack, so Tebow took to Facebook to share his verse for the day.

On Friday morning, when I saw the verse on his Facebook page, I felt something different. His verse was Joshua 1:9, placed above. It's still encouraging, and I still love seeing him live his faith, but it was followed with the words "Go Jets." That's right, 2012 is going to be a different kind of season.

Thursday night I got to watch the Broncos for the first time. It was strange seeing Peyton Manning in a Broncos' uniform, and even stranger for me to be hoping he would complete a pass rather than send one into the dirt. The team did well — winning 31-3 — but it will take some getting used to.

Seeing Tebow, one of my favorite players, on the Jets, a team I loathe, will take even more getting used to. It's clear that 2012 will be a different kind of year.

But, hey, at least the NFL is back.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
