Playoff Predictions

There's just one week left, but still plenty of drama in the NFL. Here's how I think it all shakes out.

AFC:

No. 1 seed — Denver Broncos, AFC West Champs. The Broncos play the Raiders, and I think Manning and crew will play. Being the top seed is a win away, and I think that's on their minds.

No. 2 seed — New England Patriots, AFC East Champs. The Patriots got the big win they needed on Sunday against the Ravens, and they should wrap up the No. 2 spot with a win against the Patriots.

No. 3 seed — Cincinnati Bengals, AFC North Champs. The Bengals have a final game with the Ravens. It means a lot to the Ravens, but I suspect that Bengals want to win. I think they want to get past the Ravens, knock them out of the playoffs, and lock up the three seed.

No. 4 seed — Indianapolis Colts, AFC South Champs. Most people correctly predicted the AFC playoff regresser would be in the AFC South. Sadly, it was the Texans that imploded while the Colts quietly put together a solid season.

No. 5 seed — Kansas City Chiefs, AFC Wild Card. The Chiefs have had an impressive season, no matter how it turns out in the playoffs.

No. 6 seed — Miami Dolphins, AFC Wild Card. This is a toss up, but I think the Ravens lose while the Chargers and Dolphins win. I think if that's the case the Dolphins are in.

NFC:

No. 1 seed — Seattle Seahawks, NFC West Champs. The team stumbled last week, but I think they right the ship Sunday.

No. 2 seed — Carolina Panthers, NFC South Champs. I think the Panthers win to lock up the improbable run to the No. 2 seed.

No. 3 seed — Philadelphia Eagles, NFC East Champs. I think the Eagles win Sunday. With Tony Romo likely out, I think the Cowboys will fall short again. This is the Eagles path to win.

No. 4 seed — Chicago Bears, NFC North Champs. This is a tough one, too, but I think the Packers will go down. I don't think Aaron Rodgers plays, which weakens the Packers. I think the Bears win and get in the playoffs.

No. 5 seed — New Orleans Saints, NFC Wild Card. It's been a fall off for the Saints, and I think it's going to be a rough playoffs. But I think they win Sunday and get in.

No. 6 seed — San Francisco 49ers, NFC Wild Card. I think the 49ers lose Sunday, but I think they make it in as the No. 6 seed. Given how wild the season has been, that might be good enough.
