Upcoming Releases — May

May is just around the corner — despite the weekend weather in Colorado — which means it's time for Summer movies, y'all. Here's a look at what's coming in May. Here's a look at what you can expect!

Friday, May 2:
The Amazing Spiderman 2 — This time with more recycled plots! Sure, it isn't recycling the origin story, but in this one Spidey battles Harry Osborn, otherwise known as the Green Goblin. I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm getting a little burned out on these "Spiderman" films.

Walk of Shame — That describes star Elizabeth Banks when promoting this movie. Not even the trailer looks funny.

Friday, May 9:
The Neighbors — This film has a ubiquitous title, but it has a funny concept and trailer. I think it will be one of the better comedy hits of the summer.

Mom's Night Out — This is a Tyler Perry jam, so it probably has a built in audience. This doesn't look like my kind of movie, but to each his own.

Chef — We don't know a lot about this movie from Jon Favreau. He said it's a return to his indie comedy roots. This one has potential.

Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return — This animated film is a sequel to the "Wizard of Oz." The world of Oz is hot right now and, let's face it, this can't be worse than the live-action sequel "Return to Oz."

Friday, May 16:
Godzilla — I don't know what to think of this movie. The last few "Godzilla" or Godzilla-Type movies haven't been great. This might be different. Only time will tell.

Million Dollar Arm — I love the story and trailer for this film. It looks like a good Jon Hamm performance and like a fun sports movie, too.

Friday, May 23:
X-Men: Days of Future Past — This looks like the best action film of the month, and possibly the summer. I loved "X-Men: First Class," and I'm excited to see this one, which combines the cast of the prequel and the original trilogy.

Blended — Another comedy featuring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. I liked their previous films — "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates." But those came when Sandler still made good movies. he hasn't in a while, and this doesn't look great, either.

Friday, May 30:
Malificent — This is a fairy tale focusing on the evil queen. It's a novel concept, but we'll have to see how it plays out. It feels like the fairy tale thing has been played out by now…

A Million Ways to Die in the West — I have no rational basis for this opinion, but I am really excited about this movie. I loved "Ted," the trailer for this one is hilarious, and I have really high hopes for the movies.
