Predicting the Golden Globes

Tonight is the Golden Globes, the second best awards show of the year. Below are some fearless predictions. But since the Golden Globes always seem to do the unpredictable, we'll take these with a grain of salt.

Best Picture, Drama:
Will Win: Boyhood
Should Win: Selma
* The critics are in love with "Boyhood," and it's hard not to praise the dedication and craft. But "Selma" was an incredibly powerful story that was beautifully told.

Best Picture, Musical/Comedy:
Will Win: Birdman
* I don't know if I think "Birdman" is a comedy, but it feels like a lock here.

Best Actor, Drama:
Will Win: Eddie Redmayne, "Theory of Everything"
Should Win: David Oyelowo, "Selma"
* Redmayne was great as Stephen Hawking, and it was a physical performance that sometimes feels more impressive. But I loved the way Oyelowo channeled Martin Luther King, Jr.

Best Actress, Drama:
Will Win: Julianne Moore, "Still Alice"
Should Win: Reese Witherspoon, "Wild"
* Moore is a talented actress that's been oft nominated and never won. It feels like it might be her year. But what Witherspoon does in "Wild" is incredible.

Best Actor, Musical/Comedy:
Will and Should Win: Michael Keaton, "Birdman"
* Keaton is a great actor, and he gave a great performance.

Best Actress, Musical/Comedy:
Will and Should Win: Emily Blunt, "Into the Woods"
* Blunt was simply incredible. She should be recognized for her humor and her singing.

Best Supporting Actor, Motion Picture:
Will and Should Win: J.K. Simmons, "Whiplash"
* This is the performance of the year.

Best Supporting Actress, Motion Picture:
Will Win: Patricia Arquette, "Boyhood"
* I think Arquette will be honored for her work in "Boyhood."

Best Director, Motion Picture:
Will Win: Richard Linklater, "Boyhood"
* This was a pretty unique cinematic achievement, and a work of vision from the director, who stuck with it for more than 12 years.

Best Screenplay, Motion Picture:
Will Win: Birdman
* Again, I didn't love the film but I appreciate what they did with the film.

Best Original Song, Motion Picture:
Will Win: Glory, "Selma"
* In a year without a consensus song, I think this timely ditty from "Selma" gets the nod.

Best Original Score, Motion Picture:
Will Win: The Imitation Game
* Again, not a consensus winner here, but I liked this score.

Best Animated Feature, Motion Picture:
Will Win: The Lego Movie
Should Win: Big Hero 6
* "The Lego Movie" was a big thing this year, and it was good. Personally, I liked "Big Hero 6" better and think it was a better film.

Best Foreign Language Film:
Will Win: Force Majeure

Best TV Drama:
Will Win: House of Cards
* A shot in the dark here, as it could go to any of the five.

Best TV Comedy:
Will Win: Transparent
* This has been the most buzzed about new show.

Best Mini-Series or TV Movie:
Will Win: Fargo
* I think "Fargo" gets the nod over "True Detective."

Best Actor, TV Drama:
Will Win: Clive Owen, "The Knick"
* I think the Hollywood Foreign Press will spread the love.

Best Actress, TV Drama:
Will Win: Viola Davis, "How to Get Away With Murder"
* The Globes love hot new shows.

Best Actor, TV Comedy:
Will Win: Jeffrey Tambor, "Transparent"
* Again, this has been the hottest new show.

Best Actress, TV Comedy:
Will Win: Julia Louis Dreyfuss, "VEEP"
* TV's best sitcom.

Best Actor, TV Movie or Mini-Series:
Will Win: Martin Freeman, "Fargo"
* Just a gut call here.

Best Actress, TV Movie or Mini Series:
Will Win: Jessica Lange, "American Horror Story"
Should Win: Alison Tollman, "Fargo"
* Tollman should win, but I think Lange gets the nod in her final round on "American Horror Story."

Best Supporting Actor, TV:
Will Win: Alan Cumming, "The Good Wife"
* A shot in the dark.

Best Supporting Actress, TV:
Will Win: Allison Janney, "Mom"
* The Hollywood Foreign Press spread the love again.
