RIP Mr. Spock

On Friday, Leonard Nimoy died. He is yet another member of the original "Star Trek" crew who is no longer with us. His Spock was unique, and is perhaps the favorite among the vast cannon of "Star Trek" characters. I know he was for me.

Nimoy had an interesting screen presence, one that extended for decades. He will be missed. Below are three of my favorite Nimoy performances.

3. As Dr. William Bell on "Fringe." It was in the midst of his collaboration with J.J. Abrams on the "Star Trek" re-boot that he agreed to appear in a key role in the series, produced and co-created by Abrams. Nimoy was the perfect choice, and his performances — especially in early seasons — was part of what made the show so special.

2. "Star Trek" (2009) as Spock. This was the J.J. Abrams re-boot, which is, perhaps, the second best "Star Trek" film in the cannon. A big reason for that was the appearance of Nimoy as the original, older Spock who helped put things in motion. He was, as always, gracious and perfect in the role.

1. "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" as Spock. This remains the greatest "Star Trek" film for many reasons. There was a great dynamic, the story worked, and the scenes between Nimoy and William Shatner as Capt. Kirk worked really well. His final act sacrifice remains compelling no matter how many times I watch it.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
