Superhero Movie Roundup — No. 3


Today I continue my countdown with a fascinating period piece.

No. 3 — X-Men: First Class (2011)

About: There are some movies that just speak to you, and seem to transcend their genre. The final three entries in this countdown are those movies. "First Class" is not only the best X-Men film, it's one of the best superhero movies I've seen. It was a revelation when it was released in 2011, and five years and two sequels have done little to diminish its luster. It's an origin story. It's set in the 1960s. And it features a fascinating story of two men who become friends despite their different ideologies. But, ultimately, it's that differing ideology that pulls them apart. This film is a rich and beautiful exploration — one that examines deeper issues you wouldn't expect in this type of film. It was one of the best movies the year it was released and remains among my favorites in the genre.
Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, some sexual content including brief partial nudity and language.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
