2016 Broncos Season, Week 10


Sometimes you just gotta get lucky.

Week 10: Broncos 25, New Orleans Saints 23
Season Record: 7-3 (4-1 Home)
Key Play: In the fourth quarter, with 1:28 left and the Saints Trailing 23-17, Drew Brees connected with Brandin Cooks on a 32-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. On the ensuing extra point, Justin Simmons jumped the line and blocked the kick, which was picked up by Will Parks and returned for two points, giving Denver the win.

Recap: The Broncos are a beat up team with a lot of holes. That's why it was important to get a win, to get the taste of that Oakland loss out of their mouths, heading into the bye week. But it didn't happen the way most expected, unless you had returned extra point as the winning score. And who didn't? The Broncos did some good things but struggled at times, too. But they won, moving to 7-3 on the season and remaining solidly in the playoff hunt. Since Denver has a tough closing schedule (including New England, KC twice and Oakland), the team needs to rest up, get healthy, and figure out how to develop something resembling an offensive line.

Game Balls:
* Darian Stewart. When you intercept two passes and recover a fumble, you're having a great day. That was what Stewart did Sunday. He's a beast.
* Demaryius Thomas. Speaking of a beast, Thomas grabbed eight passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. It was his best day of the season.
* Justin Simmons and Will Parks. The rookie safeties teamed on the biggest play of the game.

Lingering Questions:
* Offensive Line. Allegedly the Broncos have one. It hasn't looked like it the past few weeks. Getting some kind of decent line play is a must for this team to have a shot at repeating.
* Trevor Siemian. Siemian wasn't terrible yesterday, but he wasn't great. His play, combined with the line, might be enough to hold the Broncos back.
* Injuries. We need to get healthy. The defense, in particular, is missing some pieces and needs some help.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need. Tight End: The team brought back Adam Trautman and still has Greg Dulcich, but it's still a need. Dulcich hasn't been able to get on the field and Trautman hasn't been great. Co
