Upcoming Releases — December


We've made it to the final month of 2016, and as our reward we get three or four of the most anticipated films of the year. It's truly the most wonderful time of the year.

Friday, December 2:
Incarnate — A fantastic movie month gets off to a dreadful start with this low-budget possession horror movie starring Aaron Eckhart. In other words, you get an extra weekend to catch up on the November movies you might have missed.

Friday, December 9:
Office Christmas Party — This feels like the year of Kate McKinnon, so it's fitting that she's in the best looking Christmas comedy of the year. I like everything about this trailer and cast. I have high hopes for this film.

Miss Sloane — Some markets got this film in limited release in late November, but this tale of a lobbyist fighting against the gun industry gets a wide release here. It has a great cast, led by Jessica Chastain, but is probably a movie that you'll only enjoy based on your political leanings.

Nocturnal Animals — This is the latest from director Tom Ford, boasting an impressive cast led by Amy Adams. This is a potential award nominee.

Friday, December 16:
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — It's "Star Wars," so you don't need me to sell it. This is the second in what will become an annual tradition. This also looks like it might be the best "Star Wars" film ever. I. Can't. Wait.

La La Land — This is the follow up from Damien Chazelle, director of the fantastic Academy Award winning film "Whiplash." This one is a musical starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. I think this looks like the best film of the year and is a front-runner for Best Picture. You won't want to miss this.

Collateral Beauty — I love Will Smith. Sure, not all his films are perfect, but he's a good actor — better than he gets credit for. This strange and strangely moving film looks like the perfect entry this time of year.

Wednesday, December 21:
Passengers — Another of the most anticipated films of the year. This one stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, is set in space, and looks incredible. Merry Christmas.

Sing — This latest animated feature is about a crew of animals in a singing competition to save a theater. It's got an all star voice cast and is the perfect family film for the holidays.

Assassin's Creed — This action film, based on the popular video games, features an upscale cast which includes Marion Cottilard and Michael Fassbender. We get one of these kind of action films every year at Christmas.

Friday, December 23:
Why Him? — This comedy starring Bryan Cranston and James Franco is about a father and his would be son-in-law at odds during the holidays. Looks pretty funny, but it's a crowded field out there and this may not have enough to stand out from that crowd.

Sunday, December 25:
Fences — This film is from director Denzel Washington and stars him and Viola Davis, and it's based on August Wilson's stage play. This is another strong contender for Best Picture.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need. Tight End: The team brought back Adam Trautman and still has Greg Dulcich, but it's still a need. Dulcich hasn't been able to get on the field and Trautman hasn't been great. Co

  Do you like a good Western? It's a classic genre in film and this year I've decided to look at some of my favorite Westerns.
