2017 Broncos Season, Draft Prospects


The NFL Draft is a month away, which means it's time to speculate about who and what the Broncos might target.

Broncos' Draft Needs:
* Help on the line. It's no secret the Broncos need some help on the offensive and defensive line. There's still not a great choice at left tackle on the roster, though it's a stretch to think a rookie can come in and be that person. Similarly, there's room for improvement along the Broncos' defensive line, too.

* Depth for the No Fly Zone. The Broncos lost Kayvon Webster. That's not a crippling loss, but it does hinder the Broncos' depth. Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, Jr., TJ Ward and Darian Stewart aren't getting any younger. Bradley Roby is a great piece at corner, and Justin Simmons and Will Parks are the future. But the Broncos would do well to beef up that group.

* A playmaker on offense. Be it a running back, slot receiver, tight end or some combination of them all, the Broncos need to add to the stable of weapons.

Potential Top Targets:

* Garrett Boles, OT, Utah. This is the conventional wisdom. The Broncos' biggest need is offensive line, and this brings relief right away. But, again, can a rookie be expected to carry the load all season? It's unclear. But the Broncos could certainly use the help.

* Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford. Ed McCaffrey, Christian's father, was one of the best Broncos' receivers ever. Easy Ed was part of championship teams, and his family has a history with the Broncos. Christian isn't a prototypical workhorse running back, but the Broncos have CJ Anderson and Devontae Booker there. He could be a slot receiver, a dynamic returner, and a playmaker. That could help the Broncos.

* OJ Howard, TE, Alabama. Howard is the class of a strong TE class in the 2017 draft. The Broncos desperately need an answer at that position. Virgil Green is a decent blocker, Jeff Heuerman has never lived up to his potential, and AJ Derby was inconsistent. Howard could be the weapon the Broncos need.

* John Ross, WR, Washington. Ross set the world on fire by breaking the all-time combine record in the 40. So we know he's fast. But is he a good fit for the Broncos? That's more of a question. He could be a great returner and add to the offense behind DT and Emmanuel Sanders at WR. But of all the options, this feels like the biggest first round stretch.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need. Tight End: The team brought back Adam Trautman and still has Greg Dulcich, but it's still a need. Dulcich hasn't been able to get on the field and Trautman hasn't been great. Co
