Upcoming Releases — November 2017

November is here, bringing with it a mixture of holiday films, award contenders, and big blockbusters. That's going to be the case for the balance of 2017. Here's what the month has in store!

Wednesday, November 1:
Bad Moms Christmas — This follow up to the successful summer comedy returns Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn to the world, but sets the action near the craziest of holidays. And, as a bonus, we get to see the moms that made our trio of bad moms! This will likely salve the craziness of the holiday season.

Friday, November 3:
Thor: Ragnarok — This is the third solo outing for Thor, this time joined by The Hulk. His stand alone movies haven't always been the greatest, but the lighter tone of the trailers for this one give me hope. This might be the best one yet.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer — This horror thriller reunites star Colin Farrell with his "Lobster" director. This film looks a little more somber and unsettling, by design. It's also one of those aforementioned award contenders.

Friday, November 10:
Murder on the Orient Express — Based on one of Agatha Christie's most famous novels, this one has all the elements to be a late year treat. It's got a great cast and looks to have a fun and engaging story.

Daddy's Home 2 — Another family film for the holidays, this sequel picks up on the unlikely bromance between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, and adds their respective daddies into the mix.

Friday, November 17:
Justice League — It all comes together in this superhero team up. Following the events of "Batman v Superman," the world is in mourning when Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) decide to get a team together to save the world. I am excited for this one, particularly since Joss Whedon took over the film at the end.

Wonder — This family drama starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson looks like the kind of family-friendly drama that plays well this time of year. It could also be an award contender.

Roman J. Israel, Esq. — This drama starring Denzel Washington features a fascinating story about a criminal defense attorney that decides to get his. Coming from the team behind "Nightcrawler," expect some creepy twists.

The Star — This family-friendly animated film is a Nativity-themed story meant to appeal to
audiences of all ages heading into Advent season.

Wednesday, November 22:
Coco —This is the latest animated film from Disney, a family tale about a boy who gets sucked into the secret world of the dead to reconnect with his family. It also features the latest "Frozen" animated short, so it will no doubt be a huge draw for the long holiday weekend.

Polaroid — Oddly timed, this film was originally supposed to be released later in the year but was delayed. It's a low-budget horror film about a camera that either kills or captures evil. The trailer is unclear, but either way it's hard to see this being a big hit.
