2018 Broncos' Season, Roster Projections, Pre-Season Week 3

The third pre-season game, or the regular season preview, is in the books. Next week will be key for many fighting for jobs, but for now here's a look at my projection for the final 53.

Quarterbacks (2): Case Keenum, Chad Kelly. Kelly solidified his position as No. 2, and the fact the Broncos are comfortable with him, by getting First Team reps this week. The Broncos need the roster space and Paxton Lynch isn't cutting it. It will be better to ride with just these two.

Running Back (4): Royce Freeman, Devontae Booker, Phillip Lindsay, DeAngelo Henderson. Freeman, Booker and Lindsay all ran with the first team offense, and are locks. And Henderson also looks good. The Broncos have a good group here, hopefully with David Williams joining the practice squad.

Fullback (1): Andy Janovich. Only one guy here, and Janovich continues to prove his worth as a blocker and contributor on Special Teams.

Wide Receiver (6): Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, Tim Patrick, Isaiah McKenzie. Not any change here. The top four are set, the last two could be in flux. Friday's game did little to change the race at this position. I still think McKenzie makes it as a returner.

Tight End (3): Jeff Heuerman, Jake Butt, Austin Traylor. As much as I'm fond of Matt LaCosse, I think it's more likely Traylor rounds out this group.

Offensive Line (9): Garrett Bolles, Ronald Leary, Matt Paradis, Connor McGovern, Jared Veldheer, Billy Turner, Max Garcia, Cyrus Kouandjio, Austin Schlottman. I still don't have a great feel for this group beyond the starting five. Turner is the swing tackle, and seems locked in, and Garcia can play guard or center, which seems to have him set. But the last two change for me frequently.

Defensive Line (6): Derek Wolfe, Adam Gotsis, Domata Peko, Sr., Shelby Harris, Zach Kerr, DeMarcus Walker. This is another group that seems fairly set. The question is Kerr, and whether Clinton McDonald will get the spot. But I think the Broncos will only take six here.

Linebacker (9): Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, Shane Ray, Shaq Barrett, Brandon Marshall, Todd Davis, Zaire Anderson, Josey Jewell, Jeff Holland. This is tough. The top eight seems locked in and I think they keep nine here. Holland has a lot of promise as a young pass rusher, but it's hard to say if he's done enough. They may elect to keep another LB who can contribute more on Special Teams. I think Thursday's game will really tell us more about the last of this group.

Secondary (10): Chris Harris, Jr., Bradley Roby, Tramaine Brock, Sr., Isaac Yiadom, Brendan Langley, Justin Simmons, Darian Stewart, Will Parks, Su'a Cravens, Dymonte Thomas. I think injuries and need will lead to keeping 10 in this group, with Thomas having earned the final spot on Friday night. Parks is banged up and Cravens has yet to play. It's worth questioning whether Cravens can really contribute, or if he makes the active roster out of the game. Langley, I think, makes the team based on Special Teams play.

Special Teams (3): Brandon McManus, Marquette King, Casey Kreiter. This hasn't changed this off-season and won't change before the season.
