Here's a look at the new movie I saw this week.

Triple Frontier
Starring:
Oscar Isaac, Ben Affleck, Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund
Synopsis: Netflix has been making a big foray into original films in the past few years. The streaming site had ones that generated quite a bit of buzz in 2018 and even a few Academy Awards. (It also launched a backlash among some filmmakers trying to prevent that from happening in the future.) There is clearly an audience and a demand for these streaming films folks can view from the comfort of home, and big stars have even signed on. That's the case with "Triple Frontier," which was released on March 13. It comes from filmmaker J.C. Chandor, who did "All is Lost," "Margin Call" and "A Most Violent Year." And it boasts a strong cast that is led by Isaac and Affleck. It's an ambitious project, and one that's drawn plenty of attention. It's a heist film, and one with plenty of action. It focuses on five former Special Forces soldiers who decide to help themselves with their special skills after a lifetime of serving others. They ply their trade to a heist of a drug dealer who has a reported $75 million stashed away in his house. They plan a perfect mission, one that presents limited risk and limited cost, and it's meant to help bail them out of a jam. Pope (Isaac) is ready to hang it up, Tom (Affleck) is financially strapped, Catfish (Pascal) has legal trouble, and brothers William (Hunnam) and Ben (Hedlund) are looking for some action. This one job promises to set up their future if they can pull it off. This is an interesting film about greed, and what it pushes men to try and accomplish. I thought it was a good cast that had some interesting visuals. The story isn't incredible at times, and the plot is fairly obvious at times. But the cast makes it work. This isn't a perfect film, but it's the kind of movie you enjoy on a Friday night or a lazy Saturday afternoon. It's the kind of action film that's always been a reliable performer at the Box Office, and the kind of thing that will help Netflix continue to grow its reputation as a place to go for first run films.
Rating: R for violence and language throughout.
Verdict: Two stars out of four.

Upcoming Releases:
Friday, March 22:
"Us," "Where'd You Go Bernadette"
Friday, March 29: "Dumbo," Hotel Mumbai," "Translation of Wounds"
