2019 Broncos' Season, Week 7

Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs 30, Broncos 6
Season Record: 2-5 (1-3 Home)
Key Play: In the third quarter, leading 20-6, Matt Moore connected with Tyreek Hill on a 57-yard TD pass to make it 27-6, salting away any hope of a Broncos comeback.

Recap: The Broncos came in having won two straight while the Chiefs came in having lost two straight, with Patrick Mahomes injured. The Broncos opened with a TD on the opening drive, and Mahomes was lost for the game in the first quarter. And yet, the Chiefs put up a 20-0 stretch after Mahomes left the game. The Broncos looked flat in all three phases of the game, especially on offense as the Chiefs bottled everything up, sacked Flacco at will and forced one of the worst performances I've seen. The Broncos' season shifts from this point. It's no longer about the playoffs, it's about figuring out what and who is good enough to be part of the 2020 attack. Sooner or later that will mean activating Drew Lock from IR and throwing him out there to see what he can do. I'm not holding my breath. It also seems like the Broncos will be in for another high draft pick, but the question is can they do anything positive with them. There's also talk Chris Harris and Emmanuel Sanders might be on the block soon, and that would be interesting to see what comes back. There are a lot of problems and questions, and very few answers at this point. It's mid-October, but it's already been a long season for Broncos fans and one that seems to be getting longer by the minute.

Game Balls:
* Courtland Sutton.
Despite a tough offensive performance, he managed a steady six receptions for 87 yards.
* Royce Freeman. The second year back got his first touchdown of the season, and caught four passes for 32 yards. It was a nice effort from a dull offensive gameplan.

Lingering Concerns:
* What is the future?
Flacco certainly looked poor last night. He's not likely to be the answer in 2019 or in the future. The jury is out on Lock, too. But the Broncos need some kind of life to keep going.
