Championship Game Thoughts

Well, I picked both games right this weekend, for a change. And that sets up a heck of a Super Bowl between Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs and the red hot San Francisco 49ers. But before we get to picks, let's take a minute and look back on the championship games.

Kansas City Chiefs 35, Tennessee Titans 24
About:
I thought if the Chiefs fell down early, they'd have trouble coming back against the Titans. They fell down 10-0, but the Chiefs were still able to stay patient and come back. They avenged a loss from earlier this season, and they looked pretty good doing it. He threw for 294 yards and three TDs, and ran for 53 yards and another TD. He looks like the real deal, and the Chiefs will need that to win the Super Bowl. The Titans, meanwhile, saw their great run end. They had a great season, doing some incredible things in the playoffs. And Ryan Tannehill looked good, throwing for 209 yards and two TDs, more than in his previous two games combined. But with Derrick Henry going for just 69 yards, the Chiefs were able to take the Titans out of their game and it worked. The Chiefs proved to be too much, and now they are headed to the Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers 37, Green Bay Packers 20
About:
Earlier this season, the 49ers beat the Packers 37-8 on Monday Night Football. I thought this NFC Championship Game would be closer, and it was a bit. But not in the first half. The 49ers ran out to a 27-0 lead at the half, and the game was pretty much over. Raheem Mostert was great in this game, going for 220 yards and four touchdowns. And while Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Davante Adams were better here, it wasn't enough. And the Packers' defense was simply outmatched. The 49ers are in a good groove and are going strong, but it will be a tough Super Bowl. For Green Bay, meanwhile, a good season is over and they'll have to consider what it will take to get back to the Super Bowl in 2020.
