2020 Broncos' Season, Secondary

Now that the draft is over, and while we have some time to fill before teams come back, it's time to once again look at the positional units the Broncos have assembled for 2020. Today I'm continuing with the secondary group.

Secondary:
On the Roster:
A.J. Bouye, Bryce Callahan, Essang Bassey, Kareem Jackson, Michael Ojemudia, De'Vante Bausby, Duke Dawson, Jr., Davontae Harris, Shakial Taylor, Issac Yiadom, Justin Simmons, Trey Marshall, Douglas Coleman III, Alijah Holder, P.J. Locke, and Kahani Smith

About: This is an important and talented group at some levels, but there are plenty of questions at other levels. And this is a group that could provide the most intrigue among positions on defense. There are some locks. Simmons has been franchised, and figures to start at safety alongside Jackson. They were a powerful duo last year, and should be the same again this year. And Bouye, who was brought in via trade, is going to be the team's top corner. Beyond that, well it's really anyone's guess. There is some talent here. Callahan should help, if he can be cleared to play. Yiadom has, at times, shown flashes. Ditto for Bausby and Harris. Meanwhile Ojemudia is a strong rookie prospect, and some are high on UFA Bassey as contributor. All those and a few others will be fighting to be part of the Broncos' attack at corner. And it's going to be an interesting battle.Safety seems a little more clear. Marshall figures to make the roster and then it's a question for the final position, though Coleman seems like a likely candidate. The Broncos will likely keep nine in the secondary, so the real question is what tough cuts are we going to see at the cornerback position.

Early Roster Projections: I think the Broncos will keep nine, and six of those are locks in corners Bouye, Callahan and Ojemudia and safeties Jackson, Simmons and Marshall. As for the other three? I think Coleman gets the fourth safety position, and I'm guessing Bausby and Yiadom are the other corners.
