Fall Return to Theaters

It's fair to say 2020 hasn't gone as expected in a lot of ways. That includes our life at the movies. Around about March 15, everything shut, including movie theaters. Some have slowly begun to open, albeit without new films. But there is hope! The first new releases are set to begin rolling out the next two weeks, and there are other major releases on the schedule for the Fall. So below are a few movies coming in the remainder of the year (hopefully) that we can look forward to seeing!

Tenet (September 4)
This film from Christopher Nolan has been oft delayed but is set to release to international audiences on August 26. It's supposed to finally release in this country for Labor Day weekend. Fingers crossed, as this would be the first big film to bow since COVID hit. I think it could also end up being one of the best.

Wonder Woman (October 2)
This was supposed to be the film of summer, but I'll settle for it being the film of fall. Gal Gadot is great in this role, and I'm hyped for this sequel that gets the band back together and moves the action to 1984. This will be a huge release that, if nothing else, should get folks flocking back to theaters.

Death on the Nile (October 23)
Kenneth Branagh is back as Poirot. I liked "Murder on the Orient Express" for what it was, and I'm interested to see this follow up based on the Agatha Christie novel.

Black Widow (November 6)
This is another film that was originally set to debut in the summer but got pushed. Still, it will be a nice treat in November. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role, likely for the last time, in an original story that introduces the rest of Natasha's family. This one has a good cast and looks like a fun film.

Soul (November 20)
There were rumors this would go to Disney+, which is still possible, too, but it shows as going to theaters (and I saw a trailer yesterday). This might be the Pixar release this year with the best award potential, with Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey lending their voices. This will be one to see.

No Time to Die (November 20)
This was the first film delayed because of the virus, as it was originally slated to be released April 10. Now it's set to come out as we approach Thanksgiving. This should also be the final James Bond film for star Daniel Craig, so expect him to go out with a bang.

West Side Story (December 18)
There aren't as many big December releases as in year's past, but this re-make of the musical should be one of the year's biggest films. It's a hot property directed by Steven Spielberg, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year.
