2020 Broncos' Season, Week 3

Week 3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28, Denver Broncos 10
Season Record: 0-3 (0-2 Home)
Key Play: In the second half, trailing 23-10 and facing a Third and 13 from the five yard line, Broncos' quarterback Jeff Driskel dropped back and was sacked for a safety. The Broncos fell behind 25-10 and never made a run in the game.

Recap: The Broncos came into Sunday's game at 0-2, but they'd been competitive. I actually thought the team could upset Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. It didn't happen. In fact, this was one of the worst and ugliest games I've seen, and a sad precursor to a short week battle with the equally pitiful New York Jets. That Thursday night game figures to be a great early battle for the No. 1 overall draft pick, which isn't something I thought I'd see from the Broncos this season. Call it injuries and inefficiency, but it just doesn't look like this team is capable of competing strongly this season. I don't know what the right answer is, but this team looks a bit lost. I'll be curious to see what comes out on Thursday night and if the team turns to recently signed Blake Bortles or second-year man Brett Rypien in that one.

Game Balls:
* Brett Rypien
. The second-year man got is first regular season work, going 8-for-9 for 53 yards in his one drive. He ended with an interception, which is unfortunate, but I thought he looked good a times.
* Michael Ojemudia. The rookie corner hasn't been incredible, but I think he's making strides. Covering Mike Evans and Chris Godwin is no joke, and I thought he looked good at times.
* Shelby Harris. The veteran defensive lineman recorded two sacks of Tom Brady, two tackles for a loss and a batted pass.
* Tim Patrick. Patrick caught four passes for 43 yards and the Broncos' only touchdown. He looked good in the loss, and was one of the bright spots of the passing game.

Lingering Questions:
* Who plays quarterback.
Jeff Driskel looked good in relief in Week 2 and lost yesterday. Rypien looked good for a time in one drive, but ended with an interception. And Bortles is there. Someone will start Thursday, the question is who.
* Can the Broncos Protect. The sacks against the Steelers and Buccaneers should give fans pause. But those are good defenses. What will the Broncos' line look like Thursday night? If it looks the same, it's time to hit the panic button.
