No QB, no problem?

On Saturday, the Broncos learned that all four quarterbacks on the roster have been ruled out for Sunday. Jeff Driskel tested positive for COVID-19, while Drew Lock, Blake Bortles and Brett Rypien were ruled to be too close of a contact, and forced to quarantine.

Most teams carry only two quarterbacks, but the Broncos seemed super prepared with four. And yet, now they have none. So the starter on Sunday, against the Saints, will be rookie wide receiver Kendall Hinton, who played for Wake Forrest.

Hinton is a converted quarterback, but his last college pass came in two games as a sophomore in 2017. He threw for 1,504 yards, eight TDs and seven INTs in parts of three seasons. He also rushed for 881 yards and 12 TDs, with seven of those TDs and 390 rushing yards coming as a freshman QB in 2015. In his senior year in college, Hinton caught more than 70 passes for more than 1,000 yards and has been a receiver for the Broncos all year.

So, yeah, Sunday ought to be an exciting adventure. And if Hinton doesn't pan out, we'll get to see Royce Freeman at quarterback, or just a lot of Wild Cat with Philip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon...
